B A Nazeer, president, CPMTA stated in Baikampady industrial area there are many processing industries like plastic, rubber, chemical and marine exports who need almost continuous power supply. Many of these need at least 2 hours of pre-heating before they can start regular production.

Frequent load shedding causes material loss, production loss besides damages to the machinery. Many of the industries have export as well as supply commitments which cannot be honoured. The erratic power supply has already corroded the bottom line of many industries, as in some cases due to non power supply at nights, workers are refusing to attend second or third shift work, and all these have cascading effect on the very existence and viability of industry.

This type of power interruptions will discourage investors to invest in the state, Nazeer said urging the state government to purchase power from other states or through online trading to cater to the needs of the industries in the state as well as other categories of consumers.
