CPI (M) protests against petrol price hike

Mangalore, May 31, 2012: The CPI (M) organized a protest against the UPA government at Mangalore Central Railway Station on May 31.

Speaking on the occasion, CPI (M) District Secretary Madhava Ullal said that union government was deceiving people by hiking fuel prices although the cost of a barrel of crude oil has been reduced from $124 to $116. He added that the government has withdrawn the fuel subsidy of Rs. 25,000 crore in this year’s budget.

Rubbishing UPA claims that oil companies worldwide are running at a loss, he said that a report clearly states that IOCL has registered profits of Rs. 12,630 crore during the past 3 months. He also urged the state government to reduce taxes imposed on petrol.
