CPI(M) activist stabbed to death near Kumble ; bundh today

Kasargod, Oct 28, 2014:  Kasargod and Manjeshwar taluks are observing a bundh on October 28, Tuesday in protest against the brutal murder of  DYFI Kumble Block Committee Member and a CPI(M) activist at Seetangoli on October 27, Monday evening.  Tension gripped the area following the murder.

The deceased is Murali (35), a resident of Seetangaoli.  It has been gathered that the autorickshaw   in which Murali was travelling   from Kumble towards Seetangoli was intercepted  by some bike bound assailants near Sauda factory. Though Murali jumped out of the autorickshaw and tried to escape, he was chased by the assailants who  attacked him with machetes before fleeing.

 Though Murali was immediately rushed  to the Kumble Hospital by locals,he breathed his last enroute. Murali was  engaged in timber business and was said to be  involved in several cases.

The body was later taken to Kasargod General Hospital for a post-mortem. Several party leaders rushed to the hospital on gathering the news.

The CPI(M) leaders have blamed the  RSS-BJP for the murder. With the situation in Kumble tense, senior police officials led by SP Thomson Jose are camping in the town and security has been stepped up.

Shops and business establishments in Kumble had downed their shutters soon after the murder. The deceased Murali has left behind his wife and a one year old baby.
