CM warns fundamentalist forces of ‘stern action’

Mangaluru, Apr 22, 2016: Mincing no words, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that the State government will take stern action against “fundamentalist forces” if they try to disturb social harmony.

Without naming any particular organisation, Mr. Siddaramaiah, while addressing a gathering at Surathkal before winding up his day-long tour on Thursday, said that the government was not appeasing any community. He said the State government believed in equality for all. “We believe in inclusive growth,” he said.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said that the socio-economic survey report would be released next month.

He also laid the foundation stone for three projects on the occasion. The projects are: Mangaluru City Corporation’s zonal office building at Surathkal at a cost of Rs. 2.25 crore; upgrading Surathkal Junction-MRPL Road up to Surathkal railway bridge (240 metres) as a six-lane road at a cost of Rs. 2.75 crore and provide makeshift arrangement to 87 shops of Surathkal market at Kendra Maidan at a cost of Rs. 1.70 crore to facilitate the construction of a new building at the existing market place.

Earlier, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a Konkani museum at Shakthi Nagar. The museum would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 30 crore.
