CM to declare open Pilikula Regional Science Centre on Oct 1

Mangalore, Sep 29, 2014: Karnataka’s second Regional Science Centre which has come up at Pilikula will be declared open on October 1 at 11 am by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Union Minister Shripad Yesso Naik. The centre has been named as Mangalore Pilikula Regional Science Centre.

Informing this to media men here on September 29, Monday, DK District in-Charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai said the function will be presided over by State Minister for Youth Services Abhayachandra Jain.

Constructed by the National Council of Science Museums, Kolkata on a 10 acre land at Pilikula at an estimated cost of Rs 11.5 crores, the Regional Science Centre has been a reality with the help of grants from both the State and Union Governments.

Aimed at popularizing science among students and public, the Regional Science Centre is equipped with various amenities like a virtual laboratory, fun science section, exhibition hall, conference hall,computer room and library. It also has facilities for sports and
games.

The State’s first Regional Science Centre is located at Dharwad while the third such centre would be constructed at Mysore.
