CM skips Federation Cup inauguration in Mangaluru to meet PM Narendra Modi in NewDelhi

Bengaluru, 29 April 2015: The Karnataka Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah will leave for New Delhi on April 30 Wednesday to attend Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan Sub-Committee meeting and also lead a delegation of all party leaders from Karnataka to discuss various issues with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.


CM not comming to MangaluruThe sources confirmed that Chief Minister will skip all the programs scheduled for April 30 in Mangaluru including inaugural event of 19th Federation Cup National Senior Athletics Championships will be organized by Karnataka Athletics Association from May 1-4, 2015.


Chief Minister  Siddaramaiah will leave for New Delhi on Wednesday evening to participate in the First Meeting of the Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan Sub-Committee, convened by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu on April 30 at Niti Aayog on Sansad Marg.


Also, Shri Siddaramaiah will lead a delegation of the floor leaders of the State Legislature and Members of Parliament from the State to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the afternoon and submit a Memorandum on the Mekedatu Project as well as the Language Policy.


Siddaramaiah had sought fresh appointment from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 30 to meet him. Mr. Siddaramaiah, along with an all-party delegation from the State, will convince Mr. Modi about the importance of the proposed Mekedatu drinking water project for Karnataka. According to sources in the Secretariat, Mr. Siddaramaiah wrote to the Prime Minister on Tuesday. He had earlier sought an appointment on April 22, but could not get it.


An assurance regarding taking the all-party delegation had been made by the Chief Minister to pro-Kannada organisations when they had called for a State bandh on April 22, demanding that Karnataka implement the Mekedatu project immediately.


Tamil Nadu opposed the Mekedatu project under which a balancing reservoir is proposed to be built across the Cauvery River to utilise excess water for drinking water needs of Bengaluru and surrounding parched districts. 


Meanwhile, Swachh Bharat Mission convenor and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have written to Mr. Siddaramaiah intimating him about the meeting of Chief Ministers to be held in Delhi on April 30 to elicit their views on the mission.


Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also scheduled to inaugurate The South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank’s centenary building ‘Utkrushta Sahakari Soudha’ on Thursday.


National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Chairman Harsh Kumar Bhanwala is scheduled to open the SCDCC bank’s Kodialbail Main branch in the centenary building on Thursday.
