Udupi, Feb 17, 2016: Senior Congress leader and former union minister B Janardhana Poojary has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to apologise over his costly watch issue and said he (CM) had nothing to lose if he did so.
Speaking to reporters here on February 17, Wednesday, Poojary once again reiterated his earlier demand that the CM should auction his watch just like what Prime Minister Narendra Modi did with regard to his monogrammed suit.
When scribes raised the issue of JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy’s comments on the CM’s watch issue, Poojary pointed out at the Rs 152 crore bribery case against Kumaraswamy which the CBI is investigating and is before the Supreme Court, and said the CM should raise such issues to target Kumaraswamy.
Referring to the upcoming Zilla and Taluk Panchayat elections, Poojary urged the rebel candidates to backtrack lest they will be blamed if the party loses.
On the JNU row, Poojary questioned the sedition case filed against the student union leader."Who will be responsible if the student takes any extreme step?" he questioned.
Commenting on the by-election results where Congress bagged just one seat, Poojary said the Congress was in the same position as earlier.
Several local Congress leaders were present.
