CM lauds role of SKDRDP in helping rural folks achieve self-reliance

Belthangady, Oct 23, 2017:  Self-help groups  play a pivotal role in helping people lead a self-reliant and respectful life, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

He was speaking after  disbursing  a dividend of Rs 201 crore  to  members of the Self-Help Groups formed under the   Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project at Amrutavarshini Hall  at Dharmasthala on October 22, Sunday.

The Chief Minister also lauded the contributions of the Dharmasthala Project  and said  public co-operation would go a long way in the success of government schemes.

He said the state government would start  500 Indira canteens  in the state by January 1 next year.

Under a new scheme, subsidy for purchase of agricultural implements  was distributed to beneficiaries by Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala. The function was presided over by  K Vasanth Bangera, MLA of Belthangady and Chairman of Karnataka State Small Industries Development Corporation.

State Ministers B Ramanatha Rai, U T Khader,  T B Jayachandra, D K Shivakumar,   Legislators Ivan D’Souza,   Vinay Kumar Sorake, Abhayachandra Jain,  Shakuntala Shetty,  Kripa Alva, Chairperson of  Karnataka State Child Rights Protection Commission, SKDRDP Executive Director Dr L H Manjunath,  Hemavathi Heggade  and many others were present.
