Bengaluru, July 07, 2018: BJP legislators from the three coastal districts staged a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Vidhana Soudha premises on July 6, Friday, stating that not a single project had been announced by Chief Minister  H D Kumaraswamy in his budget for the region.

The legislators led by Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar blamed Kumaraswamy for neglecting the region for “political reasons”.

The BJP had produced a stellar performance in Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi districts, winning 18 out of the total 21 seats in the region in the elections.

He charged that the coalition government was hitting back at the people for favouring the BJP. Districts like Hassan, Ramanagara and Mandya, where the voters chose the JD(S), had been given priority, Kumar said.

He said grants for programmes announced by former chief minister Siddaramaiah in his budget proposals in February had not been released. The BJP will take the issue to its logical end, he added.
