Chief minister Siddaramaiah has agreed to inaugurate Mangalore Dasara 2014. The festival this year will be as vibrant as ever. All preparations are in full swing to make Mangalore Dasara 2014 vibrant," Poojary said.

Most of the temples in the city including Sri Mangaladevi Temple celebrate Navaratri, but the festival at Kudroli Temple has its own significance as it is being celebrated as ’Mangalore Dasara’. Installation of Navadurge and Mahaganapathi idols during the festival attracts large number of devotees and tourists to Kudroli. The Mangalore Dasara procession held every year marks the end of ten-day festival at Kudroli Temple.

It was the vision of Brahmashree Narayana Guru, great reformer of Shivagiri in Kerala, that all section of the society should have entry into temples and should be allowed to participate in all temple rituals. Narayana Guru himself had consecrated the Shivalinga at Kudroli temple in 1912 at a time when backward communities and dalits were denied entry into temples. Later, the temple was renovated and inaugurated by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on February 8, 1991. mangaloreans look forward to this festival at Kudroli every year.
