Mangaluru Apr 22, 2016: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah laid the foundation for Konkani Museum at Kalaangann, Shakthinagar on Thursday April 21 .
Speaking on the occasion Siddaramaiah said that the museum will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 30 crores. Konkani language has enormously contributed to the country since over the past four centuries, he said adding today one can find Konkani speaking people in every religion in the country.
He further said that, it is important to bring awareness among the people about the antiquity of Konkani community and preserve antique pieces in the newly built museum.
Meanwhile District in Charge Minister Ramanath Rai launched the name plates of directors and office bearers of the Konkani Museum.
Minister for Youth Services and Fisheries Abhaya Chandra Jain, MLA Shakuntala Shetty, MP Oscar Fernandes, Konkani Academy Chairman Roy Castelino, Louis J Pinto and others were present.
