CISF & CNPS MAHE to conduct seminar on High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Investigation

Mangaluru, Feb 25, 2020: CISF Airport Security Group and Centre for Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances (CNPS), MAHE will be jointly conducting a seminar for all enforcement agencies working at Mangalore Airport on High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Investigation. 

The seminar is being held at Mangalore International Airport on Wednesday 26th February. The participating departments will be from CISF, Customs, AAI, Immigration, Karnataka State Police and Airlines personnel, said a release.

DIG Coast Guard Karnataka Babu Venkatesh will inaugurate the event. Speaking about this first of its kind seminar in any Indian airport, Deputy Commandant Mr. Amit Kumar of CISF stated that “effective sharing of intelligence information, operational intelligence, information sharing initiatives, preparing threat assessments and to apply the appropriate law enforcement response is necessary to combat illegal drug activity. Enforcement initiatives comprise of multi-agency investigative, interdiction and prosecution action targeting drug trafficking and money laundering.”

Dr. G. Shreekumar Menon, Head of Centre for Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances at MAHE opined that “the idea is to foster a strategy driven systemic approach to integrate and synchronize efforts to facilitate efficiency, effectiveness and co-operation among various law enforcement agencies working in the airport and focus on outcomes and impacts”.
