Mangaluru, Mar 01, 2018 : The Centre for Integrated Learning and the Lions Club of Mangalore organised CIL Science Fest 2018 at the Lions Seva Mandir on February 28,Wednesday with the objective of fostering scientific temperament and rational thinking among the youngsters. Fr Denzil Lobo, Director of Aloysius Institute of Management and Technology inaugurated the event held as part of National Science Day.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Denzil Lobo exhorted young minds to be creative and innovative as they are vital for development. The education system of the present times need to be restructured, he said adding education imparted to the students should help them thinking oriented.
Prof Narendra Nayak, eminent rationalist in his key note address explained the science behind so called miracles and urged youngsters against accepting superstitious beliefs. He also explained how innocents were easily cheated by so called spiritual healers and God men.
The Inspiring Science Teacher Award was presented on the occasion to Usman Guttigar, education co-ordinator at BEO Office, Mangaluru North.
District Governor of Lions District H R Harish, President of Lions Club Mangalore Venkatesh Baliga, Executive Director of Centre for Integrated Learning Sachitha Nandagopal and Lioness Club President Nancy were present among others.
Various events like Science quiz, Poster making, model building, elocution contests, screening of scientific documentaries were held as part of the Fest.
