CET - DK, Udupi district students excel

Mangaluru/Udupi, June 2, 215: Common Entrance Test (CET) results bring a big cheer to the twin districts whose students have excelled. The year-long labour and toil, dedication and hard work has awarded happy results.
Speaking to media, Kishor, who secured sixth rank in medicine; a student of Satya Sai Loka Seva PU College, Alake in Dakshina Kannada, hailing from Sirsi in Uttara Kannada, said that he has been studying in Alake for the last seven years. A very excited Kishor said that confidence and hard work is the key to success. He added he used to wake up early in the morning, plus after my class hours he studied till 9.45 pm. He said, "I listened carefully in the class room and prepared back at hostel," The results announced made him extremely happy and cheerful. I want to join Bangalore Medical College.
On the sports front he was the captain of his college basketball team. He loves music as well. He is the son of Sripathi Hegde, a farmer cum businessman and postal assistant Suvarna Hegde. "Without the help of teachers and my parents I would not have attained such a good ranking,"he added.
Punith V Bhat, a student of Sri Sathya Sai Pre University College Alike has bagged ninth rank in medical. He said that he wants to be a doctor in general medicine at Bangalore Medical College (BMC) or Mysore Medical College (MMC) like his parents. Meanwhile, Punith showered praise on his college- Sri Sathya Sai Pre University College, Alike. The college used to conduct classes in normal time, but teachers were always available to clear doubts, it is the sheer hard work which is the key to success, he gushed. One hour of game, one and half hours of prayer in a day gives relaxation to read. They gave permission to stay at hostel during holidays, which helped for group study, Punith, who hails from Basti Kaikini of Murdeshwar said. He bagged 172nd rank in JEE (Main) and has written the advanced.
Disha of Expert PU College who studied in Mangaluru fearing that the heavy traffic of Bengaluru would affect her studies, has got 10th rank in medical. Disha, who hails from Halasuru of Bengaluru wants to be a cardiologist. She would continue her medical education in Bangalore Medical College (BMC). Carnatic classical music and painting are her hobbies.
Neeraj Kumar of Expert Pre-University College, who is basically from Davangere, grabbed 13th rank in medical. "I expected a rank within 20 after looking at the answer keys. Along with hard work and dedication, support of parents and teachers helped a lot. I used to study six to 18 hours a day," he said.
Vikyath D Prasad of Expert PU College, who came up with 21st rank in medical, had scored 99 per cent in PCMB in Karnataka PU Education Board exam, but could score only 91 per cent in language. He would go for his medical at KMC, Mangaluru. Vikyath, also the son of renowned physician of the city Dr Deviprasad, is also selected for the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY).
Expert Educational and Charitable Foundation Chairman Narendra L Nayak claimed that though there are less top ranks for coastal districts, in total number of ranks, the performance is good as always. In top fifty ranks (in five divisions), ’Expert’ had grabbed 35 ranks last year, but it has increased to 41 this time.
B Pradeep Pai of Canara PU College and Centre for Advanced Learning, Bejai has secured 26th rank in engineering. K Nishantha Bhat of Expert PU College in Mangaluru has bagged 31st rank in medical.
In Udupi: Students from the district who excelled the CET were over flowing with joy and shared their views : Shishir G from Viveka PU College, Kota scored sixth rank in engineering said he had expected the ranking as he had studied for JEE Advanced. He is at present waiting for JEE Advanced result as he has already cleared the JEE Mains, wherein he is ensured of a seat in NITs.
He aims at IITs and says even though he may fail to enter IIT, he is sure of getting into any of the NITs. He would study eight to 10 hours during holidays and four to five hours during class days. He planned his studies right from day one. He tweeted, "I will decide on my future after JEE Advanced results are announced on June 18."
Sudeep G C from Poorna Prajna College, Udupi who scored 8th rank in medicine said he is excited and wants to be an IAS officer to serve the society. He at present would take up MBBS in KMC, Manipal. He said the students should listen to the teachers as they guide every student to excel.
Anjali Venugopal from Jnanasudha PU College in Karkala has secured fourth ranking in architecture said she concentrated more on engineering. She is happy that she has scored well in Architecture and would decide upon pursuing a career in architecture. She said the student should listen to the inner mind as the individual capacity would decide the future. The last minute preparation for architecture has brought her good ranking. She said she worked on aptitude as her hobbies include drawing, she added.
Udupi district topped the State in the SSLC results with 93.37 per cent this year, coming back from the 16th position in 2013-14. Similarly in II PU results, the district retained its second position in the State with 92.32 per cent this year, losing to Dakshina Kannada just by a 0.77 per cent. All is well that ends well.
