Mangaluru, Aug 15, 2015 : CCB police have solved the Apple showroom theft case in Mangaluru with the arrest of three persons of Nepali origin. The theft at the exclusive showroom of Apple products named Maple Store at Balmatta was reported on the night of August 2. Police have seized stolen goods worth Rs 3.25 lakh from the trio.
Those arrested are Prakash Singh Khatari (30), Ganesh Sarke (30) and Prakash alias Sher (27). Of the three Prakash Singh worked as a security guard at a firm at Kulur.
The trio had stolen 14 iPhones, 4 Apple laptops, 5 iPads and cash of Rs 1,97,980 from the showroom as per the complaint lodged by the showroom manager Nityanand. The thieves had gained entry into the showroom by removing eh exhaust man and main switch board.
One of the accused Ganesh was arrested in Padubidri and a mobile phone, laptop and a digital camera, altogether worth Rs 3.1 lakhs from him. It is learnt, the other two accused who were directly involved in the theft had fled to Nepal to sell the remaining stolen items.
Meanwhile, another accused Prakash Singh was arrested at Kulur and Prakash alias Sher from Kottara Chowki. They have been charged with abetting the crime and were given a mobile phone by the main accused .
The arrested were made by a police team led by CCB Inspector Valentine D’Souza.
