CCB cops crack Shanthinatha Swami Basadi burglary case; arrest 4

Belthangady, Oct 24, 2015 : The City Crime Branch police of Mangaluru have arrested  four persons  in connection with the theft of valuables  worth several lakhs of rupees from the nearly eight century old Shree Shanthinatha Swamii Basadi at Purushagudde in Kutlur near Naravi.


Swami Basadi burglary caseThe theft had taken place on August 27 night. Police have recovered ornaments worth Rs 6 lakhs, motor bikes worth Rs 9 lakhs apart from cell phones from the accused.

Those arrested are Mohammad Rafique (26) from Arkula near BC Road, Kaushik Nihal (19) from Valachil, Afreem Shiyad (19) from Farangipete and Ummer Farooq Irfan (19)  from Katipalla Second Block near Suratkal. They were arrested in Belthangady.

Police said the accused were also wanted in several vehicle theft and chain snatching cases as well as house burglary cases.

That the four were involved in the burglary of the Basadi came to light when the CCB police led by Inspector Valentine D’Souza took them into custody in connection with the case of burglary from the house of a woman.
