Bus hits DGP Guruprasad’s car - 4 injured

Mangalore, July 15, 2011: D. V. Guruprasad, the director general of police (fire and emergency services) and the commandant-general of Home Guards and Civil Defense, was involved in a road accident at Kanyady in Belthangady on July 15 Friday at 11:20 a.m.

According to the Belthangady police, the officer was driving toward Shri Dharmasthala with his wife when he met with an accident in which a private bus, speeding from Dharmasthala to Mangalore, hit his Innova car.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nagaraj, the driver of the department car, and Constable Balachandra who was accompanying the couple were also injured in this accident. The four were first rushed to a local hospital for first aid and were then shifted to AJ Hospital.

Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh and other police officers visited the family in AJ Hospital.

Abdul Azeez (40), who was driving the private bus, has been arrested, and the Belthangady Police have registered a case.
