Mangaluru, Mar 01, 2018: City Police Commissioner T R Suresh has urged bus operators to ensure that the bus crew behaved courteously with passengers. He also urged them to oversee their buses by themselves instead of handing over the responsibility to others.
Speaking after inaugurating a two-day training camp for city bus drivers and conductors under the aegis of the DK District Bus Operators’ Association on February 28, Wednesday he even pointed out the number of complaints received against city bus operators and owners at the phone-in programme. He also urged bus operators and crew to strictly follow the suggestions given at the training camp.
G S Hegde, Deputy Commissioner of Regional Transport Department said the bus drivers are not supposed to drive at a speed of above 30 km per hour and said adherence to this rule can prevent accidents. Ever year around 150 to 160 people die in accidents in the city limits, he said adding such mishaps can be averted if drivers are alert.
