Bus-auto collision near Nandalike claims 2 lives, several injured

Karkala, Oct 18, 2014:  A gory mishap involving a private bus and an autorickshaw at Mavinakatte near Nandalike here on October 17, Friday claimed two lives including that of an eight year old girl. Several others were injured in the mishap.

The private bus belonging to Vishal Motors was on way to Mangalore from Karkala when it collided head-on with an autorickshaw heading towards Karkala. Jamila (65) and Neha (8) who were in the autorickshaw died on the spot when the vehicle landed in a 20 feet gorge due to the impact of the collision.

The autorickshaw driver Mohammad Sharief  and bus driver Srinivas were  seriously injured in the accident. Some of the other injured persons have been identified as  Ruksana (25), Shainaz (35) and Aparna (18).

Several locals and ZP member Supreeth Shetty assisted the police and fire service men in rescue operations.

 Udupi District in-charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake   and former Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandari have visited the injured in the hospital.
