Bunt leaders meet Oscar ; demand thorough probe into Bhasker Shetty murder case

Udupi Aug 14, 2016 : Office bearers of the Udupi district unit of Buntara Sangha have submitted a memorandum to  Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader Oscar Fernandes on August 13, Saturday demanding a fair and impartial probe into hotelier Bhasker Shetty murder case.

The memorandum  urged the leader to ensure that the guilty in the case are punished. Alleging that efforts were on to shield the accused in the  case, they suspected that the police were acting puppets at the hands of a few forces which were trying to protect the accused.

The Bunt leaders also alleged that the police have so far not subject the accused to thorough interrogation.


Meanwhile, responding to the appeals of the Bunt leaders, Oscar assured to speak to the Home Minister on the issue. He also stated that the  barbaric crime has brought shame to the town.


Senior Bunt leaders including Jayakar Shetty Indrali, President of Udupi Buntara Sangha,  Dinaker Shetty Kurkal, President of Udupi district unit of Buntara yane Nadavara Sangha,  Naveenchandra Shetty, President of Padubidri Buntara Sagha, Surendra, brother of deceased Bhasker Shetty and others were in the delegation  that met Oscar.


Meanwhile, Oscar  visited  the residence of Bhasker Shetty’s mother at Sarakarigudde in Katapady and spoke to other family members and assured to strive to secure justice in the case. Even Udupi MP Shobha Karandlaje  met  the family  members of the  murdered Bhasker Shetty.


Bhasker Shetty’s mother Gulabi Shedthi who handed over a memorandum to both Oscar and Shobha  mentioned  the name of accused Rajeshwari’s brother-in-law   Bhasker Shetty ad her elder sister’s son Balakrishna Shetty and alleged that they were also  involved in the case. She also  requested to hand  over investigation into the case to the CID or an efficient police officer.
