Bundh in DK: Three buses stoned, tyres burnt to block roads

Mangaluru, September 10, 2018: The bundh call given by the Congress party  to protest against the spiralling prices of fuel has received a good response in Dakshina Kannada district on September 10, Monday. Private as well as government  buses are  off the roads. Only a few  private vehicles were spotted on the road.  Most of the shops and business establishments too have downed their shutters.

There were reports  of stone pelting on a private bus near Jyothi Circle and two KSRTC buses at Bantwal. Bundh supporters even attempted to block roads by burning tyres at Pumpwell, Jyothi Circle in Mangaluru and Kalladka, BC Road, Maani, Thumbay, Jakribettu in Bantwal and other places in Belthangady taluk.

Police have maintained tight vigil across the district. Police took two persons into custody for trying to block road at Jakribettu.


In Udupi:
Udupi too is observing a bundh  opposing fuel price hike. A vegetable shop at Thenkupete was damaged  and an employee was beaten up by some miscreants. At Carstreet too some miscreants harmed a shop and threw the items outside.

Meanwhile Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has warned against forcing anyone to support or participate in the bundh.
