Bundh call is BJP’s blackmail tactic : Ivan D’Souza

Mangaluru, May 28, 2018: Today’s bundh call by the BJP demanding farm loan waiver by Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy is nothing but a blackmail tactic, alleged MLC and Chief Whip of State Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza.

 

Addressing press persons here on May 28, Monday, he said farmers have not descended on the streets despite the BJP bundh call. The farmers have decided to give time to the CM  to take a decision. the bundh is a total failure, he said.

"Kumaraswamy had said that farm loans would be waived if his party forms government on its own. But, now there is a coalition government. He has not said he would not waive farm loans, but he has to  take everyone into confidence before taking such a decision. The people as well as  farmers  have realised this. The BJP which has not done anything in this regard when it was in power was now trying  to mislead people. he alleged.

He further stated that the Congress was introspecting as to why it lost in the district.

Asked if he was hoping to get a cabinet berth, Ivan said there is always the anticipation. If given an opportunity, I am ready to take up the responsibility, he added.
