Brahmavar: Burglars in guise of patients rob house, escape with cash, jewels worth Rs 1.5

Brahmavar, Feb 10, 2015: In a shocking case of robbery reported from the house of a traditional medical practioner located on the Kunjalu-Cherkady road late night on February 8, Sunday,  thieves have decamped with cash and valuables worth nearly Rs 1.5 lakhs.

Sandesh Rao, his wife and kids were staying in the house. It is said at around 11 pm, a stranger knocked at the door and when Sandesh peeped through the window, the stranger said he had come for medicine for leg pain.

When Sandesh said it was already late and asked him to come the next day, he sought the  former’s permission to spend the night on the verandah stating he had come from a far off place. Just as Sandesh came out with  a blanket and pillow, a few others who were hiding nearby attacked Sandesh, took him inside the house, switched off his mobile phone and snatched the jewellery worn by his wife including ear studs, Mangalastura, finger rings and also escaped with cash in the house.

The suspicion is that there were eight  members in the gang of thieves. Senior police officials visited the spot and investigations are underway.
