Black magic case : 2 held guilty for murdering 3 yr old girl

Mangaluru, Mar 31, 2016: The  Fourth Additional District and Sessions Court has passed  a judgement  convicting two persons in  the case of a brutal killing of a three and a half year old girl child  in 2010 as a part of black magic rituals. The court is likely to pronounce the quantum of punishment today.

The two who are convicted are Kamalaksha Purusha (80) and Chandrakala (30). Both hail from Kampadakodi in Yeyyadi. They have been proved guilty under Section 302( Murder) and 201 ( Attempt to destroy evidences.

 The little girl who fell victim to their sorcery was Priyanka who was the daughter of Anjali Devi and Kiran Kumar Jha. It is learnt the couple stayed close by the house of the two accused. On December 16,2010, Chandrakala had taken Priyanka to her home and  the two  had then killed the child  to appease some evil spirits.

The body of the child was spotted in an arecanut plantation  nearby  the next day. It also bore  burn injuries indicating that hot water might have been poured over it.

There were a total of 21 witnesses in the case, 18 of them in favour of the Prosecution and three against it. Based on the statements of the witnesses and also the post-mortem report, the  two were held guilty.
