Bike rider arrested in Andrea Patrao’s accidental death

Mangalore, Aug 3, 2014:  According to reliable sources,  in the recent accidental road death  of  Andrea Patrao (17) at Urwa store on July 30, the police have taken Akash Shetty,  the rider of the bike into custody, 


Andrea 4Recap  :  It may be recalled that Andrea Patrao (17), an undergraduate student of St Aloysius college, daughter of MCC Bank vice-president Alwyn Patrao, was riding pillion in Akash’s bike. They were going towards Kulur, when  Akash applied brakes suddenly  and Andrea losing grip fell on to the road and was fatally run over by a  cement mixer truck that was just behind them.

Akash was reportedly arrested late  on August 1,  It is stated that  Akash is a history sheeter for accidents.  On August 21, 2010 he had driven a Scorpio without his parents’ knowledge, killing  two workers who were waiting at a bus stop at Panambur. Soon after he was sent away to Bangalore  and returned to  Mangalore recently. Police say that he is detained for investigations as he was riding in a rash manner according to evidence.  Though he took Andrea to a  hospital soon after the accident he left immediately after without permission.
