Bhatkal: Couple arrested for torturing son-in-law

Bhatkal, Jan 8, 2016 :  A couple wanted in connection with a case wherein they tortured their son-in-law by placing him under house arrest, have been apprehended on January 7, Thursday.

Those arrested are Abbas and his wife Zulaikha. The two   had reportedly harassed their son-in-law Mohammad Affan Shaikh (27)  by forcibly detaining him in their house and torturing him. Another accused in the case, Saleem who happens to be the brother-in-law of Affan,  is absconding and a search for him is underway.

Mohammad was rescued by locals on the night of January 6  and the couple were subsequently arrested after the former’s family filed a complaint.

It has been gathered that the  accused Saleem who is presently absconding had even tonsured Mohammad and had hit his head with pipes.

Bhatkal rural police are investigating the case.
