Bhasker Shetty murder case handed over to CID

Udupi, Aug 17,  2016: The state government has handed over the businessman  Bhasker Shetty murder case   to the CID  on August 16, Tuesday following a request made by State Minister and local  MLA Pramod Madhwaraj and other leaders of the Bunt community in the region.

Even the Bunt leaders had expressed their dissatisfaction over the pace of investigation into the case by  the Udupi Police. Though Manipal Police were initially investigating the case, following widespread resentment and following complaints that the police were  hand-in-gloves with the accused, the  investigation was handed over to ASP Dr. Sumana.

It may be recalled here that Bhasker Shetty’s wife Rajeshwari, son Navaneeth Shetty, priest and astrologer Niranjan Bhat, his father and driver are presently behind bars after they reportedly confessed before the police that they had killed Bhasker Shetty and then burnt his body in the Homa Kunda in the residence of the priest at Nandalike.

The accused priest had also revealed that the remains of Shetty were discarded in three rivulets.
