Udupi, July 27, 2017: The High Court has rejected the bail petition of Niranjan Bhat, the third accused in the businessman Bhasker Shetty murder case reported from Udupi last year.
The single judge bench comprising Justice Ratnakala directed the accused to provide evidences regarding the case to the prosecution within the next six months and then submit a fresh bail application in the jurisdictional court.
The advocate for the petitioner argued that his client was not directly involved in the case and even pointed out at the bail granted to the fourth and fifth accused in the case. He also promised full co-operation for the investigation if the accused was granted bail.
The murder was committed on July 28 last year. Bhasker Shetty’s wife Rajeshwari, son Navaneeth and priest Niranjan had been accused of killing Shetty and then dumping the body in the Homa Kunda.
