Bhaskar Shetty murder case: Court rejects Rajeshwari’s bail petition

Udupi, Dec 28, 2016: The Udupi district and session judge T Venkatesh Naik rejected bail application of Rajeshwari Shetty, one of the main accused in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case on Wednesday, December 28.

Rajeshwari (50), her son Navneet Shetty (20), and Niranjan Bhat (26) are the main accused in the alleged murder of Bhaskar Shetty, a NRI businessman, who owned big businesses in Saudi Arabia and Udupi, went missing from his house here on July 28.

The court while passing its order observed that given the background of the accused there were strong chances of interference and hindrances being created into the murder investigations.

The police arrested the accused on the charge of murdering Bhaskar Shetty and destroying evidence on August 7.

On Tuesday all the five accused in the case including Bhasker Shetty’s wife Rajeshwari, son Navaneeth, priest Niranjan Bhat, his father Srinivas Bhat and driver Raghavendra were produced before the court. Of the five,  Niranjan Bhat and Srinivas Bhat who have been charged with destroying evidences are already out on bail. The other three accused were later lodged in Mangaluru prison.
