Mangalore, May 02, 2014: As many as five activists of the Bharat Kranti Sena were arrested by the police on May 2, Friday following a protest staged by them outside the Malabar Gold showroom in the city accusing the jewellery house of using the services of Hindu youth to smuggle gold from foreign nations.
It is learnt, the Kranti Sena activists had started protesting and shouting slogans against Malabar Gold despite police asking them to refrain from protest. A large number of customers were present in the showroom on account of Akshaya Tritiya Day.
The arrested are Rajesh Poojari, National Vice President of the Sena, Lohit Kumar, its state president, Udaya Shanker, Chief Secretary, Hemanth Kumar and Naveen.The Kranti Sena Chief Pranavananda Swami was however not part of the protest.
Though another group of the Sena activists arrived later on for the protest, they were turned away by the police.
