Bhagyashree death case : Father ends life out of frustration

Belthangady, June 1, 2015:   The father of an 18 year old girl who had recently  allegedly committed self-immolation, has  ended his life  by hanging himself on June 1 at Kukrabettu in Marodi Gram Panchayat.

The deceased person is Ramanna Poojary. His daughter Bhagyashree was found charred to death at the same house on April 6 this year. Though initially  this was said to be a case of accidental death, later it was  alleged that it was a suicide.

Sources said  Ramanna  and his wife always said that their daughter died in an accidental fire and never agreed with the suicide angle of the story. It is learnt, Ramanna was also not happy with the investigation into his daughter’s suspicious death case.

Bhagyashree  who was studying in Moodbidri had come home during revision holidays and had died on April 6 when she was alone in her house. Meanwhile, police had arrested her cousin Guruprasad after suspecting that a love failure had driven Bhagyalakshmi to suicide. It was also alleged that Guruprasad himself had  kept  a death note in the girl’s room in which a relative was blamed for the suicide.

Guruprasad is presently in judicial custody.
