Belthangady-based soldier killed by Pakistani soldiers

Belathangady, August 15, 2012: Pakistani soldiers are reported to have shot an Indian soldier hailing from Belthangady early on the morning of August 13 near Ferozepur on the Jammu – Punjab border.

Soldier KrishnappaThe deceased Krishnappa Gowda (30) served as a non-commissioned officer of the Indian military ASP Battalion. He was the son of Channa Gowda of Belthangady.

Reportedly, Krishnappa Gowda was doing the night rounds when he went missing. His fellow soldiers began searching for him early in the morning and found his dead body. They suspect that Pakistani soldiers must have shot him dead.

Krishnappa Gowda, who served in the Indian military for the past 11 years, was promoted as a non-commissioned officer recently. He got married to Latha, a lecturer at SKF Industrial Centre in Moodubidri, two months back.

His mortal remains will be brought back to Belthangady on Independence Day.
