Belthangady: Man arrested for killing and burying new born infant

Belthangady, Oct 02, 2018: Dharmasthala Police have arrested a man on the charges of killing a new born child and burying its body. The arrested person is Shivappa (45) of Hassan origin.

 

Shivappa who had come to Patrame a few years ago for coolie works had come into contact with a local woman named Pushpa. It is learnt, Pushpa already has a child born out of their relationship.

Meanwhile, Pushpa had conceived again had given birth to a baby boy on September 23 at her home. Later, she along with the infant and her elder daughter had moved to the house sanctioned by the gram panchayat. Pushpa’s elder daughter who too had moved to the new house had revealed that the two had buried the infant.

Accordingly, Pushpa’s brother had lodged a police complaint. After the accused revealed the place where the infant was buried, the body was exhumed and sent for medical examination.
