The boy named Kiran (15), son of Srinivas Poojari and late Leelavathi of Ujire was admitted to the hospital on December 6, Saturday for an appendicitis operation.

It is gathered that when his condition deteriorated after surgery, doctors at the hospital  asked the family to shift him to a hospital in Mangaluru. Though he was shifted Kiran’s life could not be saved. Sources said doctors at the Mangaluru hospital revealed that  some medicine given to Kiran had an adverse reaction affecting his nervous system and resulting in his death.

Incidentally, Kiran’s mother Leelavathi who too was admitted to Badyar Hospital about six months ago had died.

The hundreds of protestors who alleged that similar cases of  medical negligence have been reported from the hospital in the past and that there had been no action.

It has now been gathered that local MLA Vasanth Bangera who is in Belagavi for the winter session of the Assembly has assured a thorough probe into the case and action against the erring doctor.
