Belthangady, May 20, 2015: A businessman from Belthangady who owns a mineral water  factory  in Neerachilume in Dharmasthala has been reportedly kidnapped by unidentified men on the night of May 18, Monday.

shenoy Ramachandra Shenoy (47) who is also a lawyer was at his factory  when he was reportedly abducted. Though Shenoy’s wife Rashmi too had been to the factory along with him, she had returned home, while Ramachandra had stayed back.  However, the same night when Ramachandra was not to be spotted anywhere near the factory, the manager Avinash called up Rashmi  to inform her about it. Later Ramachandra’s wife and son Rahul rushed to the factory and searched for the missing person but of no avail. They could only find his footwear close by the nearby road.

It has been gathered that Shenoy is not responding to calls. Locals meanwhile said they had seen a car sans number plate heading towards Ujire at great speed with someone inside shouting.

As per the information provided by Shenoy’s wife Rashmi,  her husband owed Rs 70 lakhs to one Valerian Crasta of Chikkamagaluru who however is now no more. Though he used to pay the interest, his inability to repay the loan  had forced Crasta’s wife Philomena to pressurise Shenoy to repay the loan, Rashmi said.

Sources also said Shenoy was receiving threatening calls from a murder accused named Dinesh Shetty which he had however ignored.

In her complaint to the police, Rashmi has suspected the hands of Philomena behind the abduction of her husband. Belthangady police are conducting the investigations.
