Beedi workers’ protest jatha demanding minimum wages

Mangaluru, Oct 11, 2018:  Various beedi workers unions affiliated to the CITU, AITUC, BMS and HMS commenced a  protest jatha  in front of the DC office here on October 11, Thursday condemning the managements of  beedi companies for not paying them the minimum wages of Rs 210 per every 1000 beedies rolled with effect from April 1, 2018.

Senior CITU leader K R Shriyan inaugurated the protest jatha. South Kanara Beedi Workers’ Federation President Vasanth Achari, HMS President M Sureshchandra Shetty, BMS Secretary Bhasker Rao and others were present.


The protest jatha  will conclude on October 13.
