Beary Academy honours achievers

Mangalore, May 18, 2013: Language and culture are mutually co-related. Culture will be preserved and promoted when a language is strengthened, said Kasargod Chinna, President of the Konkani Sahitya Academy.

He was speaking after inaugurating the annual Felicitation and Award ceremony 2013-2014, organised by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy held at Town Hall on May 18, Saturday.

 

Pointing out that the present generation was showing least interest towards Beary literature and culture, Chinna said it was the duty of senior scholars to take up the responsibility of  attracting younger generation towards this field.

He said youth must be encouraged to bring out good works in the field of Beary language.

The academy also awarded Mohammed Baddoor, Ismail Musliar, Dr B K Yusuf, Basheer Baikampady, Mohammed Chickmagalur and Razak Haji Harekala, while honoured Abdul Khader Haji, Charmadi Hasanabba, Zakaria Venoor, B M Mumtaz Ali and Dr Kaup Mohammed.

Beary Sahitya Academy President Rahim Uchil presided over the event.
