Barke police bust counterfeit currency racket in city

Mangalore, July 28, 2012 : The Barke police have busted a counterfeit currency racket and arrested 3 West Bengalis, including 2 minors, for attempting to circulate fake money in Mangalore on July 27, Friday.

The arrested are Sunil Choudhary (14), Niranjan Choudhary (22), and Mannu Choudhary (15) of West Bengal. The police have seized 400 fake Rs. 500 currency notes from the accused. The chief accused in the case, however, is now absconding.

The police seized 162 counterfeit currency notes and Rs. 2,070 from Niranjan, 114 counterfeit currency notes and Rs. 3,240 from Mannu, and 124 counterfeit currency notes and Rs. 780 from Sunil.

The Barke police have registered a case under Sections 489 (B) and (C) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
