Bar association demands immediate arrest of Kadri Inspector; warns violent protest

Mangaluru: August 5, 2015: The Mangalore Bar Association on Wednesday, held protest demanding the arrest of the Kadri inspector T D Nagaraj at the court premises.

Speaking to the media personals, President of Mangalore Bar association S P Chengappa said, on July 31, Junior Advocate Utham Kumar Rai was allegedly assaulted by the Inspector at the police station for asking to write a statement of a legal case for his client.


We had filed an FIR the same day of the incident against the Inspector and demanded his suspension. The commissioner had issued the suspension order the next day and the move was welcomed by all the advocates, however no action has been taken against the inspector till now, he said.

In addition to that he said, "The Bar association demands the commissioner to purse the law and arrest the Inspector. We have followed the law and produces Utham Kumar before the court.  Utham Kumar was surrendered and was released in a bail. We expect the police to do the same, the Inspector must be arrested."

If no action is taken against the inspector, necessary legal action will be taken he warned

Vice president of Mangalore Bar Association Yashodhar Karkera, General Secretary Raghavendra H V, Treasurer Yathesha, Advocate Utham Kumar Rai, Raghavendra Rai, Sumana Sharan and others were present.

The advocates claimed that the Inspector was not arrested.
