Bantwal hosts first ever Tulu Sahitya Sammelan

Bantwal, Dec 11, 2017:  DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai inaugurated the first Bantwal Taluk level Tulu Sahitya Sammelan here on December 10, Sunday. A cultural procession organised to mark the occasion was earlier inaugurated by AC Bhandari, President of the Tulu Sahitya Academy while the exhibition was inaugurated by veteran writer Erya Lakshminarayana Alva.

 

Eminent writer Malar Jayaram Rai who presided over the function said non-inclusion of Tulu in eighth schedule of the constitution was a great injustice to the land of Tuluvas.

 Erya Lakshminarayana Alva in his address  regretted that the influence of English has made people forget Tulu.

Minister Ramanatha Rai  exhorted people to strive to protect and promote Tulu language, culture and literature.

’Madipu,’ the quarterly magazine of Tulu Academy and  the 15th edition of ’Tuluve’ by B Timmaiah were released  during the function.

The vibrant exhibition displaying the rich culture and tradition of Tulunad was the added attraction of  event .

 The guests  were  offered jaggery and water in accordance to Tulu custom.
