Bantwal : Mystery shrouds death of a man while on wild boar hunting expedition

Bantwal, Dec 3, 2015 : A jeep driver hailing from Dambe in Punacha  was reportedly killed   when his friend reportedly fired at him mistaking him for a boar in the dark while on a hunting expedition in a forest area on December 1, Tuesday.


accident in bantwal 1The deceased is  Budda Naika alias Muddanna (57).  Budda Naika  along with his friends  Sunder Gowda, Satish Gowda and Chidananda Gowda  from Ajirumajalu,  all armed with double barreled rifles had been to the forest area in a Maruti van.


They had reportedly alighted the vehicle at Toranakatte from where they climbed a hill and  moved in different directions as two groups. It is said one of them Satish who felt some movement in the nearby bushes, thoughtoit to be a wild boar and fired at that direction.

But to his misfortune, it turned out that he had fired not at the boar but at his friend Muddanna who died on the spot.

Though the three friends immediatly informed Muddanna’s family about the incident and even brought the body to his home, locals suspect a foulplay.

Some well-wishers of Muddanna family have even  met the ASP and apprised him of the matter.

SP Dr Sharanappa, ASP Vincent Shanthakumar and other police officials visited the spot. The deceased Muddanna had a passion for hunting. It is learnt he had two marriages and had seven children.

All the three friends of Muddanna who had accompanied him for hunting, have been taken into custody for interrogation.

Based on a complaint by Muddanna’s brother, the Vittal police are investigating the case.
