Bantwal: Man rapes daughter for a year; uncle does the same after finding out

Mangaluru, April 19, 2019: An appalling incident of child abuse surfaced from Mangaluru. A man allegedly raped his daughter along with his uncle. The alleged incident took place in the Bantwal. The complaint was lodged by the victim’s mother.

In her complaint, victim’s mother alleged that the 17-year-old had been repeatedly raped by her brother-in-law. It was only after the brother-in-law’s arrest that the father was caught for raping his daughter.

While talking to the News Minute, the Ullal Police stated that the victim and her mother had gone to see her uncle’s mother after she was admitted to a hospital. Followed by their visit, the mother and daughter also paid a visit at the accused’s residence.

The same night, the accused allegedly raped the victim and warned her against telling anyone about the incident. The victim allegedly narrated her ordeal to her mother the next day. Following the complaint, the accused was arrested by the police.

During investigation, the police discovered that the victim had been raped by her father. The father had allegedly been raping the victim since the past one year. The accused informed the police about the alleged incident. The accused alleged that he thought of raping the victim because her father was doing the same. Following this, the police contacted the Child Line officials.

On being questioned by the Child Line officials, the victim stated that she had been raped by her father as well. The police registered an FIR against the father and the uncle under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. While the accused uncle has been arrested, the father is on the run.
