Bantwal : Container lorry rams into railway over bridge at Mittur

Bantwal, Feb 07, 2018:  Traffic was affected for a few hours   near Mittur railway overbridge after a container lorry carrying cars rammed  into the railway bridge on February 7,  Wednesday morning. The lorry driver sustained minor injuries in the mishap. Train services also had to be suspended temporarily following the incident.

It is said that the huge container lorry had tried  to pass through the road beneath the railway bridge with  great difficulty when  the mishap took place. The iron  bar  that prevented heavy vehicular movement was broken due to the impact of the collision and even the front portion of the lorry was damaged.

The Mittur Railway over bridge was renovated just last  year.  Iron bars preventing  heavy vehicles at the entry and exit points of the bridge had also been erected. Still some vehicles manage to pass through it. However, the huge container lorry has met with a mishap while failing in its attempt.
