Bantwal : Cash, valuables worth lakhs stolen from 2 houses

Bantwal, Oct 21, 2018:  Thieves who broke into two houses at Irvattur  late night on Saturday have decamped with cash and gold worth several lakhs of rupees.

The  theft occurred in the houses of Hasanabba and Yusuf. In the first case, thieves broke open the rear door on the  second floor of Hasanabba’s house and stole  jewellery weighing 40 sovereigns  kept inside the house.

The theft occurred when family members were fast asleep. It has been gathered that Hasanabba’s daughter who had come to her parental home on account of holiday for children had placed her jewellery in the cupboard. The same has been stolen.

 In the second case too thieves broke open the back door and escaped with Rs 55,000 cash from the  house.

Senior police officials have visited the spot, Finger print experts and dog squad has also been pressed into service.
