Bantwal: Assets worth Rs 1.2 cr seized in Lokayukta raid on PWD engineer’s residence

Bantwal, Dec 21, 2014: Lokayukta sleuths led by SP Sadananda Varnekar who on December 20, Saturday raided the Bantwal and Mangaluru residences of PWD Junior Engineer Arun Prakash D’Souza have   seized disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 1.20 crore.  The raid which began at 4 am in the  morning continued till late evening  when it came to light that apart from a house in Bantwal and a flat in Kadri, the junior engineer possessed 1.5 kg gold,  half kg silver, a Maruti Swift, two bank lockers among other assets.

 

It has been gathered that the Lokayukta officials found that  the junior engineer had assets which  exceeded by over 200 per cent of his actual source of income.

The other officials who were part of the operation were Lokayukta DySPs Umesh Shet, Vittaldas Pai, Inspectors Naveen Jogi,  Vijay Prasad and Dilip Kumar.
