Bantwal : ASHA worker allegedly commits suicide

Bantwal, Oct 14, 2016 :  A woman named Leelavathi alias Rekha (36),  who was an ASHA worker from Netla Kallagudde in Goltamajalu village has reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself using her churidar veil in the poultry farm  behind her house on October 13, Thursday.


ASHA worker allegedly commits suicideShe was the wife of Purushottam Devadiga, a tiles worker and   a mother of two   girls aged ten and eight. The children were away in their grandmother’s house at Kavoor as it was holiday for school.  Sources said Rekha who was missing  when Purushottam returned home in the afternoon, was later found hanging  in the poultry farm .

 Leelavathi has left behind a death note  stating "I am doing a mistake. I am to be blamed for my death."

It is said that Purushottam was unhappy over his wife’s tireless works. On Thursday, too he had reportedly prevented her from going to work. It is said Rekha had  told about this to her father Raghu Devadiga, who is a resident of Kavoor  in Mangaluru.

Frustration in life is suspected to be the reason behind her suicide. Investigations are underway as per the complaint lodged by the father of the deceased woman.
