Bangalore blast: Security tightened in DK, Udupi

Mangalore, April 19, 2013: Security arrangements have been tightened in DK and Udupi districts in the wake of the blast near the BJP office in Bangalore on April 17, Wednesday. The blast ahead of the Karnataka Assembly polls have proved a big head ache to the police department.

The department has begun checking of in-bound and out-bound vehicles in Mangalore and Udupi. Senior police officials have assured the citizens that all security arrangements were in place and there was no need for panic.

Security has also been stepped up in strategic points like airport, bus stands, malls and other crowded places.

In view of the elections, Indian Reserve Battalion from Sikkim and 149th Battalion of Coimbatore regiment of BSF have been deployed in sensitive areas of DK and Udupi districts respectively.
