Mangaluru, Nov 28, 2016 :  The Supreme Court has on November 28, Monday accepted the  petition filed by the  family of slain RTI activist Vinayak Baliga seeking cancellation of the bail granted to the prime accused Naresh Shenoy and has issued a Dasti Service order wherein the petitioner himself is given  permission to serve notice to the accused.

vinayak baliga case 1Nagamohan Das, Advocate for the Baliga family who presented his argument  before the court for nearly ten minutes, pointed out that granting of bail to the prime accused at a time when investigation into the case was not complete, was improper.

Heeding to the request, the SC Bench comprising  Justice U Uday Lalith and Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghosh, has issued a ’Dasti Service’ Order, informed Ravindra Kamath, another advocate for Baliga family.

It may be recalled here that  earlier at a press meet at the Baliga residence in Mangaluru on Saturday, Ravindra Kamath had said that the granting of bail to the accused would not only impede investigation but would also pose danger to the family of the deceased while also  helping in  destroying evidences.

The family of Baliga has also moved the High Court against the Mangaluru Sessions Court ruling upholding the decision of the accused  Naresh Shenoy who has refused to undergo narco analysis test.

RTI activist Vinayak Baliga was hacked to death by assailants on March 21, 2016 close by his house near Kodialbail.  The prime accused Naresh Shenoy who was absconding was arrested almost three months after the murder. Though his bail plea was rejected by the Additional District and Sessions Court, he had managed to get bail from the High Court.

So far seven persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
