Kasargod, Feb 16, 2016 : A young BJP worker was hacked to death by a gang of assailants who barged into his house late night on February 15, Monday at Pappinisseri in Kannur. Though the murder sparked tension in the area, the police who rushed to the spot have ensured adequate security arrangements. So far eight persons have been detained for interrogations.
The deceased is Sujith (27), a resident of Aaroli Azad Colony. According to sources, a gang of ten assailants attacked Sujith with lethal weapons., His parents and brother who tried to protect him, also sustained injuries in the process. A critically injured Sujith though was rushed to the hospital, he breathed his last there.
Police said initial investigations point out that a political enemity was the cause of the murder and that it might be the handiwork of some CPI(M) activists .
Sources revealed that a CPI(M) leader named Kuttan was among the assailants.
In another development, the residence of Venugopal, a CPI (M) leader was attacked by some unidentified miscreants on February 16, Tuesday morning.
