Entry on CM in diary:
According to a diary seized during the raid on an MLC, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has paid Rs 1,000 crore to Congress high command to retain his post. But the Congress is trying to divert the attention of the people by releasing a doctored CD on state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa and Union Minister Ananth Kumar. The Congress is using all tactics to defame the BJP, he alleged.

Stating that pre-poll promises made by the Congress have not been fulfilled, the MP said that the government has failed to take up new programmes for the welfare of the people. Even the welfare programmes initiated by the previous BJP government have been stopped by the Congress. The Congress government is engaged in politics rather than development works. The people of Karnataka have lost faith in the government, he claimed.  The state government has failed to submit a report on drought situation in Karnataka. The Centre has released highest funds to Karnataka to tackle drought, he said.

Toll collection:
To a query on toll collection by NHAI without completing the work on service road and flyovers, the MP said that the work on four laning of national highway from Talapady to Kundapura has been taken up on PPP mode. As a result, the toll collection cannot be stopped all of a sudden on the stretch. The new Motor Vehicles Act proposed by the Centre will do away with toll collection in the future, the MP added.

He said that he has written to Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari urging him not to allow collection of toll on the stretch from Talapady to Kundapura till the work on service roads and flyovers at Pumpwell and Thokkottu are complete.

In Udupi: TheUdupi district BJP has charged that the Congress-led state government is a package of corruption and irregularities. BJP district president Mattar Ratnakar Hegde said on Saturday that the voters’ expectation of a corruption-free governance proved an illusion. The only intention of the state government is to appease the Congress high command.  Hegde said the government is mired in scams one after another. People’s representatives have become a source of corruption, he ridiculed.

Hegde said the Income Tax Department raid on minister Sathish Jarkiholi’s office and Congress women leader Lakshmi Hebbalkar’s house shows the amassing of disproportionate assets and these two leaders have not been questioned by the party and are allowed to continue in the respective positions. The charge against the Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya and his wife of receiving bribery is also audaciously accepted by the Congress government. No action has been taken, he criticized.  Lambasting at the government for going ahead with the steel flyover project in Bengaluru, Hegde charged that the chief minister and his ministerial brigade are all bribed with more than Rs 65 crore. The project is taking shape despite the stay order from National Green Tribunal. There is no accountability, he alleged.

Hegde said both south west and north east monsoon have failed. The state is reeling under severe drought and drinking water crisis has reached the worst stage. The livestock is suffering without fodder. The government has failed to release the amount already allotted by the Union government to tackle drought. Out of 165 assurances provided by Congress in the poll manifesto, not even a single assurance has been realised, he charged.

He blamed the district in-charge minister and district administration for the tollgate mess.  Hegde said the district BJP unit, in support of statewide protest call given by the state BJP unit, will organise a massive protest rally on February 20 at Clock Tower. The exposure of the video which is said to be the conversation between BJP leaders Yeddyurappa and Ananth Kumar is fake and the conversation has been twisted according to the conveniences of Congress. It is totally fraudulent, he charged.
